This residence is designed as a home for two and their parents and their children and their grandchildren. Designed for natural light and for multi-generational living. Lots of natural light was designed for comfort.

House on Canyon Lake

This home was built in the Canyon Lake area.  The property backs up onto and airstrip and the owners could build a hanger if they cared to. The house is sited in order to capture the view of the lake and to minimize solar heat gain.

New Ranch House Near Austin, Texas

I was looking at Mexican architecture as we started this design.  We incorporated green features, several courtyards and unique stonework.  Carved stone sculpture is embedded throughout the stone.  This home sets on five acres with an environmentally protected creek running through it. This home was on the American Institute of Architects Homes Tour in 2007.

This House was on the Austin American Institute of Architects Homes Tour in 2005, The Austin Green Homes Tour in 2006 and featured on the National Amercian Institute of Architects Convention Tour of Green Homes in 2006.

Circle C Austin Addition

The idea behind this project was to create a Primary Suite, expanded Kitchen, new Dining Room, new Covered Patio, new Shop and Garage.  The existing house had the Primary Suite upstairs and the owners wish to age in place.

Central Austin Addition

This project involved adding 1,700 square feet to an existing cottage.  The house is across the street from Hancock Golf Course. The existing small cottage windows afforded no good viewing of this beautiful golf course.  So, as we designed the addition, we gave the landing at the stairwell big windows and enough space to accommodate a small seating area.  The original  house was built by a Scottish mason who came over to Austin to make the arches for the state capitol.  The addition was designed to have minimal impact on the existing structure.  We included a nice kitchen update with vaulted ceilings and exposed timbers and large windows.

Lakeside Home on Lake Travis Near Austin

This is a lakeside home (see first photo.) The first level is a steel frame and cmu base with two stories of wood framing above.

Lakeway Home

House for a family of five.  Clean lines, green building, preservation of existing trees were employed.  We included a play room separated from the great room and foyer by sliding barn doors and a 12 x 12 wood column.  This home has lots of windows on the back, taking advantage of the nature preserve green belt beyond.  Lots of areas for play for the tiny guys,  It is open and airy and light inside. This home was designed to have a home office.  Lots of daylight contribute to the open and light feel.  

Northwest Austin Addition

The idea for this addition was to expand the existing dining to accommodate a growing family around the dining table.  The owners feel that family is "everything." There are now seven grandchildren that come to this home for the holidays and they all can be seated in this newly expanded dining room space. We designed a mono pitch, vaulted roof in order to gain height and to shed water to the perimeter of the lot. The higher ceiling also allowed for greater light inside. Aging in place was considered by raising the floor of the "sunken" living room, providing a ramp at the back patio door, designing a curbless shower with accessible hardware and grab bars, a new accessible height toilet with electrical outlet and widening existing doors.

This project included adding a new guest bedroom, a cabana, privacy fencing, a new stair and remodeling the existing balcony

Lake Travis Waterfront in Lakeway

This project was an extensive remodel of an existing Lake Travis waterfront house. We created a larger, glassy, contemporary entry door, created a golf cart garage, remodeled  and extended the kitchen, and removed some walls to open up one great room. We extended the front porch, remodeled the master bathroom and powder room, created a Juliette Balcony off of the kitchen, created an outdoor kitchen, and renewed the rear deck.
